What SourceProof checks
- Citations with no matching bibliography entry
- Bibliography entries that are never cited
- Duplicate references and mixed citation styles
- Malformed DOIs and metadata differences reported by Crossref
Limits
SourceProof checks citation structure. An optional Crossref lookup compares DOI, title, author, and year metadata; it does not prove a claim, source relevance, originality, or absence of plagiarism.
Questions
- Does “verified” mean that the source supports my claim?
- No. It means the available metadata appears to match. Read the source yourself to judge its evidence, context, and relevance.
- Is my full text uploaded?
- The structural scan stays in your browser. Only after you click verify are detected citation identifiers and metadata used for the Crossref lookup; the full text is not part of that lookup.
